Can anyone share about some information regarding IP or Intellectual Property Rights?

Am just curious to know how Intellectual Property can alter/shift the landscape of business... May mga naging legal battle na bang cases na ganito dito sa Pilipinas? I mean dba with the Samsung and Apple batter regarding intellectual property..

I was reading this post from yahoo.com

Quote
Apple targets more Samsung products in patent suit
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Seeking to capitalize on a major legal victory over its rival Samsung Electronics Ltd, Apple Inc has asked a federal court in a separate case to find that four additional Samsung products, including the Galaxy S III, infringe Apple's patents.
In February, Apple alleged that at least 17 Samsung products infringe its patents. In a court filing made in San Jose federal court on Friday, Apple added four more products to the list of allegedly infringing products that have been released beginning in August 2011 and continuing through this month.
Apple won a major victory over Samsung last Friday in a separate case when a jury found that the South Korean company had copied critical features of the hugely popular iPhone and iPad and awarded the U.S. company $1.05 billion in damages.
Samsung representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The case is U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, Apple Inc v. Samsung Electronics Ltd, et al 12-00630.

I must say, mas gusto ko talaga ang samsung galaxy kesa sa iphone.

masyado kasing proprietary ang Apple e. lahat ng products nila sobrang ang mamahal. punta ka lang sa mall outlet/branch nila yung iba don half the price ng samsung counterpart not to mention open source Android e worth it for your money.

Apple has amended a lawsuit they filed back in February against Samsung, and is now including four new devices to the original 17 they say violate their patented technology. The additions are the Galaxy S3 (Galaxy S III), the Verizon specific Galaxy S III, the Galaxy Note, and the Galaxy Note 10.1. These devices will join the Galaxy S II Skyrocket, the Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, the Galaxy S II, the T-Mobile Galaxy S II, the AT&T Galaxy S II, the Galaxy Nexus, the Illusion, the Captivate Glide, the Exhibit II 4G, the Stratosphere, the Transform Ultra, the Admire, the Conquer 4G, and the Dart on the smartphone side, and the Galaxy Player 4.0, the Galaxy Player 5.0, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and the Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablets.

The patents Apple is claiming are being violated are:

'647 (Data detector)
'721 (Slide-to-unlock)
172 (Word completion)
'604 (Universal search)
The "Data detector" patent was successfully used against HTC to block the One X and EVO 4G LTE from import back in December 2011, while the others have been met with limited success around the globe.

The battle between these two is far from over folks -- last weeks news was just the beginning. Expect more as this develops further.

Check it here.

Pati ba naman Samsung Galaxy SIII at Samsung Galaxy Note 2 gusto ipa ban ng Apple? Super inggit kasi sila di nila ma beat ang sales and innovation.

I think this cyber war between samsung and apple will never end...

Marami akong kilala na mga apple loyalties na mas prefer talaga nila ay apple products kahit na mahal

Pero marami din akong kilala na kampi sa samsung.

Yung topic regarding sa dress patents like the "rectangular-shape with round edges" or "square-shaped icons with glass effect" shouldn't have ever been granted to Apple in the first place. It's just too vague and plain ridiculous (as Samsung's attorneys stated on their defence in day 10.) I mean, it's like Apple's way of saying to the competition "Make a square, oblong or triangle-shaped smartphone we don't give a damn as long it's not rectangle or otherwise i'll sue you." In the end, consumer ang talo dahil malilimitahan ang choices nila for the smartphone market. And if this monopoly of apple continues, hindi na ako magtataka kung in the future, iba-iba na ang hugis ng android smartphones natin.

tama ka technorpreneur.... i think na infringe ang patent ng mga UI icons pero para i grant ang patent ng shape ng device sa apple is just too much. hindi naman distinct yun shape ng iphone unlike sa bote ng coca cola na naka-patent sa coca cola company.
