it really depends on what kind of career would you really like to pursue. working for the government often provides lower compensation; but you somehow have security of tenure. working for a private corporation may give you a higher salary; but the pressures are often directly proportional to your pay.

it would also be important to consider your educational background in your choice. for example, if you finished an undergrad degree in public administration, you may be more suited for government work. of course, this is not necessarily always the case.

but i am sure that even while you were studying, you already had an idea of what kind of career you would like to have. each offers both good as well as not-so-good sides to it. but satisfcation at work will eventually depend on nobody else but you!  cheers!

Ako kasi if you ask me personally i dont like working for government... mas gusto ko sa private sector...

Here's some points to consider....  If you are single, working in a government or private doesn't really matter as long as you're happy and enjoying your time at work.No problemo! But if you are married or a family man or breadwinner of the family, we do all know that the remuneration package of working in a government agency is not sufficient enough even to meet our very basic needs( e.g. house rent or amortization- if you don't have your own house.. other monthly bills to pay).Unless you will work in a regulatory agency like LTO,LTFRB or DENR and you're planning to join the bandwagon of corrupt government workers, no worries for house rents and the likes.
if you're just working for the money, with no passion in your undertaking, I think you should just work in a government agency.Working in a private company is very gruesome(sorry for the adjective) but this was my experience when I jumped off the ship from a government agency in 2005 and worked for a private company. It was very stressful. You should bear in your mind that working in a government agency is more relaxed compared to working in a private company. Because the private employer is paying you much more, your work also should commensurate with the salary you are receiving, no mercy at all. I remembered when I was working overseas, I'm always dreaming of work-related events at night, and mind you, I stayed for almost a year there, working from sun-up to sun-down.

To put that into perspective, if you are working in a government agency and your salary is, let's say, 15k, you're "actual work" is just 3-5K while if you're working in a private company and your salary is 250k, your "actual work" is 500k.

So better think about it, and hope this helps. Cheers!
