UPDATE - New Minimum Wage in Manila 2016

The National Wages and Productivity Commission announced that effective on June 2, 2016, there will be a wage increase for minimum wage earners in Metro Manila.

₱10 will be added, making the 2016 minimum wage in Manila ₱491.

This announcement first appeared on the Philippine Star on May 18, but the wage adjustment will effectively be in place starting June 2.

Although the said wage increase is great news for employees working in Manila, there is quite an uproar on social media with pleas of having the daily rate adjustment implemented nationwide. For now though, only the Manila minimum wage will be increased according to reports.
