Here's how i cope with homesickness:

-i call at home (almost) daily even for just 3 mins usually before my wife & son's bedtime to know their day's events.. medyo magastos  nga lang.
-internet surfing, chat or text
-join church organization para while doing service i can also have a community where i could belong... usually basta organizations may mga activities din and outings. I also gained a lot of friends thru this.
-indulge in sports activities... i used to play tennis before... im not a pro...palipas oras lang
-window shopping

In my experience having a lot of good friends really helps in coping with homesickness.
Normally kasi homesickness sets in pag isolated ka.
