New Zealand Visa Requirements for Foreign Students

For Filipinos, studying in New Zealand is very promising and a dream come true.




For Filipino students who are planning to study in New Zealand, here are some details that you need to know in getting ready with your applications.

If it is the first time for a student to enroll in a course, he or she should have an offer from a New Zealand education provider. This offer includes the following.

• Name of the education provider along with its contact details
• Course name and the length of the program
• Proof that the course provider meets the requirements set by New Zealand for foreign students
• Course fees
• Confirmation of all requirements under the Code of Practice for the Pastoral care of International Students which includes the students accommodation for those under 18 years of age and course prerequisites.
Students should also present the following:
• Evidence of funds

This is to ensure that the student has enough money to any financial undertaking in New Zealand including accommodation and living costs. Students enrolled in courses less than nine months. They need to provide about Php 45,000 for each month of their stay and for courses more than nine months, the student should be able to provide Php 530,000.

• Valid passport
• Health certificates
• A certificate from an English proficiency examination

Among the many English competency tests available, the International English Language Testing System or the IELTS is trusted by universities and colleges in New Zealand. It is important to get the set standard scores of these academic institutions to be able to continue the student’s application. Around the world, the IELTS has been demanded from all students applying for a spot in academic institutions. The IELTS certificate verifies the competency of an individual in communicating in English. It is a proof of the student’s capability to be comfortable and productive in an academic environment where English is the primary medium of instruction.
