STOCK MARKET : PERFECT TIMING

Relax, We Don’t Have To Be In The Market All The Time

That’s right.  We don’t have to be trading the market all the time.  Just because we are market traders does not mean we should always have a position to hold.  Just because we have the money does not mean we need to buy stocks and hold a long position.

A wise hunter does not fire his gun just because he has the bullets to use.  No, he waits for that big game and then he shoots...one shot, one kill…sometimes he misses too, but that’s alright.  The point is the hunter uses his resources wisely, sparingly, and intelligently.  He does this because he knows that he is not in control of the wild so he waits for the opportune moment to make the kill.  If the hunter feels that the time and weather conditions do not permit him to go hunting then he stays out of the wild, and spends his time in relaxation to prepare himself physically and mentally for the next hunting opportunity.  Patience is a hunter's best virtue; it is also his friend.

It is the same way in the stock market, the wise trader waits for the moment when the market presents a good opportunity to trade and make a nice profit. Since, we as small traders cannot control the market, we wait for the market to present us these opportunities then we grab them as soon as we see them.  We are the David and the Market is our Goliath.  How then do you defeat a giant?  You wait for that giant to commit a mistake.  In the David and Goliath story, Goliath’s mistake was rushing towards David with an exposed face.  David waited for Goliath to be near enough for him to shoot the giant then released his shot…one shot, one kill.

Last year, zero position ako and  I started buying Manila mining stocks at the price of I think at 0.070-0.075 range w/o thinking...bumili lang ako ng bumili because lolo stocks was in steroids at that time..but it was  a big mistake because that was the time na  nag reverse ang price niya..So I cut my losses as soon as the market allowed me..

My mistake was I was too excited to take a position.  I always commit a mistake in trading when I am too excited and too much in a hurry.

Mistake number 2 was firing recklessly just because I had the bullets to use.

The succeeding days, I decided to stay on the sideline and wait for the Greece issue to subside..The market presented opportunities for me to buy MA at much lower prices ( 0.045-0.049).. and I was able to sell all my shares at 0.085-0.087

So relax, we don’t have to be in the market all the time.  Wait for opportunities then grab them when they appear.  Also, use your finite resources intelligently.

It think it all depends on how long you are planning to invest.

If you are investing longterm (3 years or more):

Prices of any stock do go up and down. For example, Jollibee / BPI doesn’t seem to be losing money or going broke, and I’m not sure there’s anything wrong with their business model. I myself would not be scared. But again, you have to really check Jollibee’s performance.

If you are investing short term:

You may want to investigate deeply why it’s going down. And if you aren’t investing for the long haul, then perhaps it’s worth considering to cut your losses.

Either way, it’s important to follow your investing plan. If you have not prepared for the chance that Jollibee’s prices would fall so much, then really investigate what going on.

Are they losing money? are they losing market share? Are people buying less fast food? Are their ventures abroad (I think they have stores in China and the US) draining their profits? Was there a sandal of some sort ? Are they changing leaderships? Have they not met quarterly targets? losing revenue? not gaining as much revenue as expected? is their profit margin shrinking? is their business model outdated? Maybe they were just “overvalued” at the start of the year? Or perhaps its part of a long trend of sideways trading? Kelangan talaga updated ka sa balita kasi minsan just by speculation nagkakaroon ng market disturbance which may affect kung kikita ka talaga or malulugi...

Etong opinyon ko ay mga side notes ko lang ha, you still need to learn on your own by researching and studying the market.
