BAYO's Official Statement on Alleged 'Racist 'Campaign
« on: June 09, 2012, 03:07:20 PM »

We at BAYO deeply apologize for the message our campaign has unintentionally conveyed. We would like to express our regrets to those who have been offended or felt discriminated against.

Our company and our partners have always taken pride in being pro-Filipino as we continue to celebrate our uniqueness and achievements. We believe that being a Filipino will always make you 100% beautiful. It is unfortunate that this message got lost along the way.

We thank everyone who has shown support for our thrust of promoting Filipino beauty, talent, and creativity.

Sincerely,

Lyn Agustin
Vice President, BAYO

What's Your Mix?” ads, which are still displayed in Bayo boutiques nationwide, will be taken down as they come up with a new concept for their campaign. Several Filipinos turned to social networking sites to say that Bayo's new campaign was "demeaning." Others, meanwhile, said the ad suggests that those who are 100% Filipino are inferior to their mixed race counterparts.

I don't see anything wrong with Bayo's ads.

People claim popularity over celebrities/athletes who have the littlest amount of Filipino heritage, yet despise an ad that promotes having other nationalities mixed with Filipino blood is a formula for beauty.

Racist against who, exactly? Because if you read it well, it almost translates to other nationalities being "beautiful" IF they have Filipino blood...

Just my two cents worth
